What are the key steps for establishing a new lawn

In establishing a lawn from seed there are many considerations. One must determine budget, lifestyle, turfgrass use and site type. They can then decide what type of lawn is to be installed and the method of installation to utilize. The best time for seeding is in the fall between August 15 and September 15. During this time the turf has less weed competition and typically ideal growing conditions. Spring is also a good time, but weeds are thriving and may out compete turfgrass seedlings. Summer heat and lack of rainfall may also be detrimental. After all the considerations are made, one may decide the undertaking to large, and chose to have the installation done professionally. The information gained through prior research may aid in a smoother installation process and a lawn which meets expectations.
