Seed cultivars and fertilizers have suggested rates of lbs. per 1000 sq. ft. When researching seed species one will see recommended rates. The soil test results will indicate how much fertilizer should be applied per 1000 sq. ft. Mulch should be applied to adequately cover the seed. Many hydromulch manufacturers specify how much mulch should be applied per 1000 sq. ft. according to the slope.
Example
The lawn measures 10000 sq. ft.. The seed cultivar recommends 4-6 lbs per 1000 sq. ft.
10000sq. ft. X 6lbs/1000 sq. ft.= 60lbs. seed required for the job
